Have you always wanted to perform? City Dance Corps offers Performance Classes for students who have the dream of hitting the big stage! This program consists of 4 months of classes in Salsa, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Contemporary and newly added HOUSE dance, where a piece of choreography will be learned and performed in one of two City Dance Corps annual productions; TALENT DEFINED, a showcase of Toronto's emerging and professional dancers and choreographers (Winter/Spring Session) or, our Fall showcase, an all faculty show with a theme and theatrical storyline (Summer/Fall Session). Build your Confidence and Improve your Performance Skills!
What is "TALENT DEFINED " (Winter/Spring Session)? Who can take Performance Classes? How are the classes structured? How much does it cost and how do I register ? What is "TALENT DEFINED "? Talent Defined is a production of Toronto's emerging and professional choreographers and dance companies. Sponsored by City Dance Corps, the event offers a professional venue for artists to produce and share new work. This opportunity supports the creative process for the city's dancers and provides an outlet to share this work with our community. Students groups are honoured to share the stage with the city's amazing talent, and to work with some of the industry's best choreographers. Who can take Performance Classes? Anyone! If you are interested in being part of a professional production, you can join the Performance Class of your choice. No AUDITIONS! These classes are offered for dancers of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Once you decide on the style of dance you would like to perform in, you then choose your appropriate level. If you have never performed before, or have very little training in the specific style of dance, we recommend you take the Beginner Level. We do have one small policy; this program is for adults only so dancers signing up must be 18 years of age, or older. How are the classes structured? These classes will be by registration only to ensure a consistent group of students. The instructor/choreographer will work on one dance with the class, building on the choreography every week until the dance is complete. Each class will consist of review, new material, and practice of current material. These classes are designed to learn choreography; therefore, strengthening and foundation techniques taught in regular group classes will not be the major focus. To keep strengthening your technique, we encourage students to continue regular group classes. Stage presence, performance dynamics, formation building and spatial awareness, memory building, and overall confidence will be the major focus of Performance Classes. What if I miss a class? There will be no refunds or credits for classes missed, however, we encourage students who miss a class to get together with other classmates before or after a scheduled class to go over material missed. Studio space will be offered FREE of CHARGE for this. Otherwise, a private lesson with your choreographer could be scheduled upon request. How much does it cost and how do I register? We are offering 2 payment options for the Performance Classes: 1)Payment in Full, 2)Payment in 3 installments. The payment in full must be made before December 18, 2009 . If you choose to pay in installments, we require a credit card number on file. Students who are currently enrolled in our Registered Workshops and Open Classes are eligible for the reduced Active Student Rate. There may be additional costs with regards to costumes, and shoes, however, all additional costs are discussed with each class and agreed to by the entire class.
Early bird rate due: July 30, 2010 To register, please take a moment to read through our policies here.
